Privacy Policy

This describes how Alignment Check handles information in the iOS and Android app and its online service. It reflects how the product works today.

Who we are

Alignment Check is published by Decisive Leader. For privacy questions or to ask us to delete personal data, email privacy@beadecisiveleader.com. For app support, email help@beadecisiveleader.com.

What we collect

Account email and sign-in details. Passwords are stored hashed, never in plain text. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the account identifier and email they share with us.
Check titles, the decision you're talking through, and question text you add.
Your private answers and private notes, until you delete them or your account.
Answers you choose to share after both people confirm, plus optional AI comparison results and follow-up messages on those shared answers.
Session tokens that keep you signed in on your device.
Optional push notification device tokens when you allow alerts, used only to deliver check updates you opted into.
If you buy a membership: the store's transaction identifiers, product, and subscription status and expiry, so we can confirm your membership and your monthly AI allotment. Apple or Google handles payment; we never see your card number.

We don't collect contacts, photos, precise location, or advertising IDs, and we don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

How we use it

Run your checks, invitations, drafts, and shared results.
Show each person only what they're allowed to see.
Run optional AI comparisons on answers both of you chose to share, never on private notes or unshared answers.
Confirm memberships and track your monthly AI comparison allotment.
Provide export and account deletion when you ask.

Sharing with the other person in a check

Nothing is shared by default. The other person can see the decision text and question prompts. They can't see your private answers or notes unless you turn sharing on for those answers and both of you confirm. Follow-ups on a comparison are visible to both of you once sent.

Companies that help run the app

Cloudflare hosts the app's online service.
Neon hosts the database for accounts, checks, and memberships.
OpenAI processes the shared answers both of you agreed to share when you run an optional AI comparison or follow-up. Private notes and unshared answers are never sent.
Apple and Google provide sign-in when you choose it, billing for memberships, and push notification delivery.

These providers process information on our behalf to run the service.

Retention and deletion

Your account and drafts stay until you delete them or delete your account. Deleting your account removes your private drafts, unshared answers, and sessions. Answers you already shared on an approved result can remain for the other person so their shared history still makes sense. Anything they already saw or saved on their own device isn't pulled back. We keep a minimal record of store transactions so a purchase can't be claimed by a different account.

You can export a copy of your data from Account in the app before deleting.

Children

Alignment Check isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Your rights and contact

You can export your data or delete your account from Account in the app. Email privacy@beadecisiveleader.com for a privacy question or deletion request, or help@beadecisiveleader.com for app support. We may need to confirm it's you, for example by hearing from the email tied to your account.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above.
